The Wineskins
The Wineskins started writing and playing music in the 90's. All being from Mississippi, they never actually broke up. There was drama at points, but that only made for better songs. It started out as three guys from Mississippi, meeting in Nashville, and taking the downtown area by storm for a while. Back before 2nd ave. was a tourist free for all, Windows on the Cumberland is where the Wineskins played. A bunch of folk would come out, Nanci Griffith, Kevin Welch, Tom Kimmel, Tony Brown, to name a few.. Heck, even Guy Clark liked their music.... Two of the guys moved back to Mississippi but they all stayed friends, can't help it. Back in June of this year, Jeff and Keith got back together and have written 20 new tunes. The Wineskins are now two. Brian has got business back home. But something special is happening with the two voices..something pretty dang cool. The music is unique and full of beautiful melodies, honest hard edged candid stories of growing up in Mississippi, and what that meant and still means. What the Wineskins have found is that the Wine has matured into something they hope the world will choose to partake of.
